
The Sif-Oidak District
Sif-Oidak (English: Bitter Field) is one of 11 districts within the Tohono O’odham Nation mostly in Pinal County and a small part in Pima County. It is the most northern district of the Main Reservation located south of Stanfield and Casa Grande, Arizona and just southwest of Eloy in the state of Arizona.
Its major Interstate roads are I-10 and 1-8. The major throughways within the district are Federal Route (FR 15) and (FR-42).
Employment for its members include Cyprus Tohono, SODA Stop, Tohono O’odham Farming Authority, Healthy O’odham Promotion Program, Tohono O”odham Early Childhood, Tohono O’odham Public Safety and the Sif Oidak District Office.
Its members who have served as the Chairman of the Tohono O’odham Nation include Augustine Lopez, (Chui Chu) 1971-1973 and Max Norris (East Chu Chu) 1979-1983.
There are 92 known United States Military Veterans who have served in all wars in all branches of service.
Temperatures during the day can range from 112 degrees in the summer to 65 degrees in the winter.
The Sif-Oidak District seal was developed in 1995. the feathers represent the (9) communities that make up Sif-Oidak District.
